Hello to all chapter members and followers!

Here's the latest news from the Chapter.

The two words 'information' and 'communication' are often used interchangeably, but they signify quite different things. Information is giving out; communication is getting through.

Experiments and use cases for AI from a tech writer's perspective

When: Friday, December 8th 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. EDT through Zoom

Banner graphic event about 'Experiments and use cases for AI from a tech writer's perspective'. This is a very complicated graphic composite of a man working at a work bench with a robot looking on and lots of technology parts and concepts scattered all around.

Since AI has gone mainstream and promised to transform many professions, including tech comm, many of us have been exploring and experimenting with AI in different use cases. We know it's important to learn these AI tools, but in what situations do we use AI, and how can AI help? Conversely, in what situations does AI backfire?

In this presentation, Tom Johnson will share some personal experiences in using AI for different writing-related use cases, explaining what he has found helpful. These use cases and takeaways are all experiential, based on his experiments with using AI both in the workplace for documentation-related scenarios and writing on his blog.

Register for the event on Eventbrite.

Contribute your talent!

We are looking for volunteers who are willing to offer their talents to help us continue providing educational opportunities, events and networking opportunities for the chapter. By volunteering, you can network, share your talents, lend your support, develop transferable leadership talents, or carve a new path.

We currently are looking to fill positions on the chapter Administrative Council. If you are an STC member who thinks they can contribute in one of these positions, let us know by using our Volunteer sign-up form.

Check out our list of Current Chapter Volunteer Openings.

We are especially looking for an Events Associate Manager – Webinar Series to help us contact and arrange speakers for our MasterClass in TechComm speaker series. The specifics can be discussed with the current Council. You do not have to be an STC member to contribute to this role.

If you prefer a more behind-the-scenes opportunity, join us as a Website Team Deputy Manager. Help us keep the website up-to-date and get experience working with WordPress. You do not have to be an STC member to contribute.
