Educational Opportunities

Documentation Usability Studies Webinar

When: Thursday, April 14 at 7PM ET
This presentation will discuss usability testing and how to apply it to documentation, using examples from work done at Appian. The webinar will touch on:

  • What usability testing is, including common methods.
  • How and why we can apply these methods to documentation.
  • An overview of this process at Appian and the results.
 
The webinar will be led by Kelley MacEwen, a Senior Information Developer at Appian. It will be delivered via Zoom.

How to Create Technical Illustrations in Adobe Illustrator Workshop

When: Friday, May 6 at 9AM–11:30AM ET

If you weren't able to attend last time, it's back!

Technical illustrations depict complex concepts to convey information to end-users. In this webinar, you will learn the fundamentals to create sophisticated technical illustrations in Adobe Illustrator. Adam will guide you through techniques that will teach you skills such as how to create isometric projections and orthographic drawings to support your technical communication.

STC Elections: Voting Ends Tomorrow!

Voting closes at 5 PM EST (GMT-5) on March 18, 2022. You are eligible to vote if you paid your dues by January 31 of the election year. For information about this year's candidates, see the STC Election Candidates Slate.

STC Alliance TechComm Competition

The deadline for entries is September 12, 2022. The STC Alliance committee is in the planning stages for the competition. Work continues on the new website and updating and improving rules and assessment forms.

If you are interested in being a competition judge, you can apply now. Use the Judge Information form to apply. (Please note that you must use the Google Chrome browser to complete and submit the judging form.)

The current schedule for the competition is

  • September 12, 2022 – Deadline for Submission of Entries

If you haven't already, please Renew Your STC Membership for 2022 and allow us to continue serving you by selecting STC WDCB as your home chapter.

STC dues are tax deductible. Refer to the chart of membership levels and dues at STC Membership Levels and Benefits for how to figure the rates for new and renewing members.

Membership in one chapter and one SIG is included in the dues for Gold, Student, and Retired members. Professional and Academic memberships and New Professional memberships pay $25 for each chapter and $10 for each SIG they would like to join. These fees go to support the operating costs as a rebate to your home chapter.

STC Summit

STC 2022 Summit Details

STC's TechComm Summit is the organization's annual conference. The Summit attracts over 650 attendees and 40 exhibitors during a three-day period and attracts like-minded individuals that come together to grow in their knowledge of the technical communication field in workshops, panels, and other career enhancing opportunities.

The 2022 conference will be an in-person event this year. STC's 69th Annual Conference, Summit 2022, will be held 15-18 May 2022 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare, in Rosemont, Illinois, five minutes from Chicago O'Hare International Airport.
