Entries Pick-Up and Judges’ Training Day

The first Judges Meeting is held to hand over the entries and judging materials. All judges meet and discuss the guidelines for judging. Lead Judges distribute entries and judging materials to Team Judges. All entries are judged by the individual judges during the time between this meeting and the consensus meeting.

Attendees: Judging Manager, Lead Judges, Team Judges, Entries Manager, Competition Manager.

Map and Directions: Directions to the Arlington Central Library

Parking: Parking is free on weekends and the library is walking distance from two Metro stations on the Orange line. Virginia Square station is 0.19 miles away and Ballston station is 0.25 miles away. Central Library has a 5-Minute Drop Off area in front of the Library on North Quincy St. Free 2-hour parking is available in the parking garage and surface lots near Central Library. Library patrons can request an extended parking pass from the Reference Desk. Parking passes are not necessary on the weekends.

  • Grand Challenges for Biological and Environmental Research

An entry that wins a Merit award consistently meets high standards in most areas. The entry might contain a small number of major or minor flaws, but it still applies technical communication principles in a highly proficient manner.
