InfoDevDC: DITA, Lightweight DITA, Markdown: Why? And How?
5 Oct 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm UTC-4

Do you DITA? Even if you don’t, you might one day. And even if you won’t, you can certainly benefit by learning the thinking that goes into structured authoring.
In this InfoDevDC Meetup, Alan Houser will provide a whirlwind overview of DITA, the in-progress Lightweight DITA specification, and Markdown for technical communication. We will focus on why companies deploy DITA, barriers to deployment, and how the DITA Technical Committee is addressing those barriers. Whether you are currently working in DITA, or are interested in XML and structured authoring, you will find something of value in this session.
After the meetup, we will migrate to a watering hole where we will continue to imbibe the goodness of structured content, among other goodnesses.
6:30 meet and mingle
7:00 talk followed by q&a
8:00 or 8:30 migrate to beerful places tbd
