Evolution of the Knowledge Broker: Trading your content for revenue

Today, content creators have an opportunity to position content as the most pivotal asset to a company’s continued success. The world has changed and users now want instant access to information. Content creators have to evolve into Knowledge Brokers and align their development process with their company’s business strategy.
This presentation discusses the powerful role Knowledge Broker content plays in business strategy. It also covers the correct workflow that is needed to generate revenue through documentation. Finally, it looks at methods used to deliver content across multiple devices and the method that is most effective and why. If you want to increase the role of documentation in your business strategy, this presentation will give you the right mindset when looking at strategies for your content.
About Our Speaker
Christopher Ward, Director of Sales at WebWorks, specializes in helping small teams accomplish big things by better aligning departmental processes with overall company strategies. Christopher's experience in strategy development began as an Analyst for U.S. Army Intelligence and then later moved in to the corporate world when working for Dell computers. For over the last four years he has been working for Webworks and enjoying getting to know the Technical Communications Industry. His diverse experiences allow Christopher to recognize untapped potential in a company's overall business strategy and help them achieve that potential.
Bernard Aschwanden is a recognized publishing technologies expert. He is an Adobe Certified Expert, a Certified Technical Trainer, and the author of numerous articles on xml-based publishing and single sourcing. He is the founder and President of Publishing Smarter. In addition to his publishing background and speaking tours, Bernard teaches a variety of courses. These include XML, DITA, CMS tools and related technologies, best practices for structured authoring, content management, and tools such as FrameMaker and XMetaL. He also works with clients to convert legacy content, analyze documentation, review workflows, and identify best practices in technical communications.
Bernard is an STC Director at Large and is currently a candidate for STC Vice President. He is also an STC Associate Fellow and past President of the STC Toronto Chapter. Bernard is a professor in the continuing education Technical Communications program with Seneca@York, on the advisory board for the Humber College Technical Communications program, and remains active in the STC delivering in-person seminars and online webinars to members around the world. He has helped hundreds of companies implement successful publishing solutions.
