Looking for New Banner Images of DC & Baltimore areas

We’d like to refresh the rotating header banner on the website with some fresh images of the Washington, DC and Baltimore metropolitan areas. We have several donated by chapter members and would like more. We’d like horizontal images of statues, buildings, bridges, and other tourist spots for the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland: the Baltimore metropolitan area, Eastern Shore, and the Chesapeake Bay.

Specifications:
300 to 600 ppi
Horizontal / landscape
Size at least 1140×420 px (will be resized to 1000×198 px—whitespace width will be added if necessary so the image doesn’t look squashed or stretched when resized)

For the attribution:
Identify the location, monument, statue, etc.
Name of photographer
Any recognizable faces must give their permission to be shown on the website.

Please look through your photos or those from your visitors to this area to find images. Or gather a friend or more to go out on a nice day and take some new ones.

This is an example from the American Medical Writers Association, Mid-Atlantic Chapter:

WDCB Jobs Board Restructuring

The WDCB Jobs Board is being restructured. Job feed listings from a variety of sources will be shown on the home page at https://jobs.stcwdc.org. Job seekers will have a greater opportunity to find a job using the listings there or by using the job listings on the STC Job Bank Listings. Our job board's free postings had dwindled down to one announcement a month, which is not enough to be useful to job seekers.

There will no more job announcement postings on the WDCB site. Employers and recruiters are encouraged to use the STC Job Bank to take advantage of the experience and skills gained by hiring STC members. See the STC Job Bank Employers Post a Job and the STC Jobs Bank Products and Pricing pages for more information.

Anyone who has a resume in the WDCB Resume Bank or wants to post their resume online, may post their resume with the STC Job Bank Job Seeker Resumes.

Announcing our 2015 Officers

As Nominations Chairperson, I am pleased to announce our chapter’s leaders for 2015, following a tally of the responses to our election survey, which was managed by Survey Monkey. The election survey was open from October 14, 2014 to November 3, 2014. Of the 234 people invited to participate, 51 did so, a response rate of 28%.

The following chapter members will serve our chapter from January 1 to December 31, 2015.

President: Sean Stevenson
1st Vice President and Events Committee Manager: Liz Herman
2nd Vice President and Membership Manager: Becky Todd
Treasurer: Annette Reilly
Secretary: Lori Meyer
Director-at-Large and Social Media Manager: Viqui Dill
Director-at-Large and Webmaster: Cynthia A. Lockley
Director-at-Large and Competition Committee Manager: Gary Wayne

Our new officers will be supported by many of our longtime and new volunteers. Please consider joining us by contacting an officer (contact information for each officer is in the bio link above), attending an event and talking with us, or by taking a look at our Current Chapter Volunteer Openings.

Here’s to a great new year for the chapter!

UPDATE: 22 November 2014

Unfortunately, At-Large Director, Gary Wayne, has resigned for health reasons. At-Large Director, Cynthia Lockley, will fill his place as the competition manager for this year.
