A Great Day for #TechComm: Our Bloomery Plantation Distillery Tour and Open Mic

If you missed the event on Saturday, you missed something special. Technical communicators from all over the area gathered at the Bloomery Plantation Distillery in Charles Town, WV for history, hooch, and hospitality.

The event began under the big tent at the Bloomery, where our host Rob Losey treated us to an assortment of delicious cordials including Cremma Lemma, Ginger Shine, and (my personal favorite) Chocolate Raspberry. Rob told stories and filled us in on the history of the plantation and some of the details of the manufacturing process as well as the regulations and restrictions.

After the tasting, we took a tour of the grounds, and then stayed for the open mic entertainment. Some of us even participated.

We held the Transition meeting between incoming and outgoing administrative council members on 12 January 2013 and celebrated the old and coming year with a luncheon. The luncheon was held at the Yoko Japanese Restaurant in Oakton, VA.
