Judges discuss their comments with their team members to determine the final ratings of each entry (Distinguished, Excellence, Merit, or no award). Lead Judges and Team Judges then choose the Best of Category for each of their categories.

Attendees: Judging Manager, Lead Judges, Team Judges, Entries Manager, Competition Manager.

Map and Directions: Directions to the Arlington Central Library

Parking: Parking is free on weekends and the library is walking distance from two Metro stations on the Orange line. Virginia Square station is 0.19 miles away and Ballston station is 0.25 miles away. Central Library has a 5-Minute Drop Off area in front of the Library on North Quincy St. Free 2-hour parking is available in the parking garage and surface lots near Central Library. Library patrons can request an extended parking pass from the Reference Desk. Parking passes are not necessary on the weekends.

Teams of judges discuss their comments with their team members to determine the final ratings of each entry (Distinguished, Excellence, Merit, or no award). Lead Judges and Team Judges then choose the Best of Category for each of the categories their team is judging.

The ones selected by each team as a “Best of…” will be entered in the Best of Show Judging.

STC WDC Competitions News

On January 9, consensus judging for the Technical Publications and Online competitions was held at First Presbyterian Church in Arlington, VA. Twenty-one technical communication professionals evaluated and determined awards for a multitude of entries, some from as far away as the UK and Germany! Thanks to all judges and committee members who participated in judges training and consensus.

For those of you who entered the competitions, you will receive your feedback and award notifications by mid-February.

The next competition event is the Seminar and Competition Awards Celebration on Saturday, March 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Marriott Metro Center in Washington, DC. I hope that you will join us for an afternoon of lunch, viewing the winning entries, and meeting the winners. In addition, Curtis “Blogger Bob” Burns of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will present a seminar: “Engaging Your Target Audience Using Social Media”.
