A Year of Event Planning in an Afternoon

15 Nov 2014 @ 12:00 am - 4:00 pm UTC-5

| Free

Our chapter has a long history of engaging and successful educational programs and social events. Our challenges include keeping the topics fresh and relevant while reducing the work load of our event volunteers. We would like to start having focused meetings and dedicated socials.

Our response to this will be Event Planning in an Afternoon, a team-building lunch followed by a brainstorming/planning session resulting in at least skeleton plans for all ten events of 2015. We will follow a model suggested by STC 1st Vice President, Bernard Ashwanden, who implemented it in Toronto.

We will sketch out as much as possible the following events:

  • Biz of Tech Comm
  • Tech Tools and Trends
  • Education Day
  • Management Day
  • Competition Awards Celebration
  • 5 Social events

Optimally, our events committee, led by Liz Herman in 2015, will consist of one event planner for each of the 10 events listed above.

Information we will attempt to nail down for each event includes speaker(s), location, date, host, fee, and costs.

We will meet at Thai Pavillion, a restaurant connected to the library, at noon. The restaurant is at
29 Maryland Ave #308, Rockville, MD 20850.
